Update 8/8/25 on Council Building works
Major projects update All of Council’s major projects are on track to be delivered before the end of the year!
The W – Walkerville Recreation Centre is close to reaching the lock-up stage! Member for Adelaide, Lucy Hood MP, visited the 39 Smith Street site on Thursday to receive a tour with Town of Walkerville Mayor, Melissa Jones, and Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Johnson. Also in attendance were Councillors, James Williams and Aman Kaur, and Council staff. Hutchinson Builders took the group around the site, showcasing the current progress of the facility and explaining the next steps of the development. Currently, the cladding works on the building are progressing well and will be finished in a couple of weeks. Internally, the walls, doors and windows are being installed. The Residents can expect the exterior of the building to really start coming to life. While the building may look finished, development will be happening on the inside!
At Walkerville Bowling Club, the building is starting to take shape, significant continuing with works both internally and externally. Inside works are nearing completion, with carpets laid, doors and windows installed, joinery fitted, and the bar and kitchen close to finished. The carpark and surrounding footpaths are also nearly completed, with landscaping works to commence in the coming weeks.
At the Walkerville Oval, the open space project is tracking along well. The posts for the cricket nets have been installed and the concrete slab works are nearly finished. Site works for the multi-use courts are also progressing nicely, with the footings for the lights installed and fencing and site works continuing over the coming weeks.
