At our 125th Gala Dinner on Saturday 21st March 2026, the Walkerville Football Club launched our Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of outstanding players, administrators, officials and volunteers who have made a substantial contribution to the Walkerville Football Club since its inception in 1901.

Inductees are selected by a Hall of Fame Committee – which sits as a sub-committee of the Walkerville Football Club Committee and is Chaired by the President. Selections are guided by a formal Hall of Fame Charter requiring candidates to be judged on their service to the club, individual achievements, integrity, sportsmanship and character.

To be eligible for induction, nominees must be Life Members of the Walkerville Football Club, must have accumulated the required points through their contribution to the club and Australian Rules Football, and must have provided a minimum of 20 years service. Each year up to four individuals may be inducted into the Hall of Fame, ensuring this remains one of the highest honours our club can bestow.

On Saturday Night we announced the first inductee

Our inaugural inductee embodies every one of those qualities and is someone who represents everything this club stands for.

For more than three decades he has been the heart and soul of the Walkerville Football Club. Well into his 80s, he continues to set the standard for volunteerism — often the first to arrive and the last to leave at training sessions, game days and club events.

Since 1990, he has served as A Grade Team Manager, taking care of everything from match-day administration, uniforms and equipment, liaising with umpires and opposition clubs, and safeguarding players’ belongings. But beyond the tasks, he is the emotional anchor of the playing group. Generations of players — young men aged 18 to 35 — have relied on his guidance, wisdom and kindness. Every A Grade footballer who has played at Walkerville since 1990 has shared a personal connection with him. He first became involved with the club when his son started playing. His journey began with a very simple question ‘How can I help out?’ and he has been answering that question every day since.
