Gather Round & Round 1 – 2026 Update

Gather Round 2026: Mark your calendars for 9th–12th April.
Adelaide Footy League Round 1 2026: Locked and loaded for Saturday, 18th April – ALL divisions. No take-backs.

We recently had our first ground-smarts summit with cricket, footy, and metropolitan councils. Highlights included:

Ground Fatigue: Affecting the relative few but the combined effects of high traffic on Ovals due to Women’s, Men’s and Juniors footy and in turn, considering alternatives.
Ground quarantining: With cricket at some ovals deep into finals in March before footy takes over until September. Councils want time to prep for both because apparently its not as simple as putting goal posts up and marking the ground.
Council first with councils now calling the shots directly to both administrations. Clubs are now out of the middleman business — City Halls now talk to footy and cricket directly.
Fixture release: There’s a chance we might be able to release the fixture earlier than usual – we’ll see.

And no, this was not an invitation for Fixture requests. They’re long gone.
